The Civil 7 engagement group primarily brings together civil society organizations and players in international solidarity from the G7 member countries. It seeks more generally to promote recommendations by non-State actors from G7 countries to leaders on subjects such as government accountability.
During the French G7 Presidency, the C7 is spearheaded by Coordination SUD. Its work focuses on combating equality in several dimensions: gender equality, climate and the environment, education, health, food security, agriculture and nutrition, peace and security, development finance and tax justice.
The C7 Summit, which was held in Paris on 1, 2 and 3 July, involved various African countries, and produced recommendations for the leaders on all these themes.
Representatives from the Civil 7 were also invited to speak with the sherpas – personal representatives of the G7 leaders – in Lyon on 5 February.
