State visit to Spain.

At the invitation of King Felipe VI, the President of the Republic visited Spain on 29 and 30 September 2026.

This first state visit by a French President to Spain since 2009 illustrates the depth of the ties that bind our two countries and the breadth of their cooperation.

A neighbouring country, friend and ally, Spain is also a major economic and investment partner for French businesses and for the development of cooperation and innovation, particularly in the digital and space sectors.

This visit also highlights the strength of people-to-people ties between our two countries, notably through the numerous cultural, academic and scientific collaborations and the French education network in Spain.

On the evening of 29 September, the President of the Republic and his wife joined the King and Queen of Spain for a state dinner.

On September 30, President Emmanuel Macron participated in an economic and investment forum.

During this state visit, the President of the Republic also met with the Spanish Prime Minister, Pedro Sánchez.

The two leaders discussed major European and international issues, notably the situation in Ukraine and the Middle East.
