At the invitation of Their Majesties King Charles III and Queen Camilla, the President of the Republic and Mrs. Brigitte Macron paid a State Visit to the United Kingdom from July 8 to 10, 2025.
On the morning of July 9, the President of the Republic and Brigitte Macron laid a wreath on the tomb of Queen Elizabeth II in St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle.
The Head of State then took part in a session on biodiversity with His Majesty the King.
President Emmanuel Macron later visited Imperial College for a session on artificial intelligence, where he notably spoke with Demis Hassabis (CEO and co-founder of Google DeepMind) and Arthur Mensch (CEO and co-founder of Mistral AI).
The President of the Republic and Brigitte Macron then went to 10 Downing Street for lunch with Prime Minister Keir Starmer and his wife.
They later visited the British Museum for a cultural event.
The President of the Republic announced the exceptional loan of the Bayeux Tapestry to the United Kingdom. In exchange, the United Kingdom will loan the Sutton Hoo treasures to France.

President Emmanuel Macron then took part in a roundtable on economic attractiveness at the French Residence, alongside the Minister for Economy, Finance and Industrial and Digital Sovereignty, Éric Lombard.
At the end of the day, the President of the Republic and Brigitte Macron went to Guildhall for a dinner hosted by Alastair King, Lord Mayor of London, and his wife.
