Every first Tuesday of the month, the Élysée Palace hosts an emblematic ceremony: the Great Relief of the Republican Guard. This event, both sober and solemn, is open to all and takes place in front of the gate at 55, Faubourg Saint-Honoré. Inspired by the daily ceremonial in place between 1909 and 1996, this military tradition offers a moment of sharing and communion with fellow citizens.

Two sections of 16 soldiers from the 1st Infantry Regiment march along the Avenue de Marigny and the Rue de l'Élysée. They meet in front of the Élysée Palace's honor gate on Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré. After exchanging military salutes and orders between the section leaders, the personnel of the incoming Republican Guard enter the courtyard in step. They then take up their posts for the next 24 hours.

To allow the public to fully experience this event, the Maison Élysée now opens its doors starting at 9 AM every first Tuesday of the month. Do not miss this opportunity to discover the behind-the-scenes history and participate in a moment of republican tradition.
