An exceptional piece has recently taken its place in the reception hall of Maison Élysée.

A blend of various techniques showcased by the Mobilier National, this owl was exhibited at the Gobelins Gallery during the “Métiers d’art, signature des territoires” exhibition from March 29 to April 21, 2019. The bird, made of European porcelain from the 1920s, rests on a base inlaid with a hand-soldered lead ribbon. Its feathers were added in 2016 by Tal Lancman and Maurizio Galante. The plumage consists of six layers of silk organza separated by tiny glass beads.

Partners since 2003, Tal Lancman and Maurizio Galante intertwine fashion and design. The Israeli trend forecaster and designer, together with the Italian couturier, collaborate on projects that breathe new life into 19th-century porcelain figurines, including this snowy owl.

The snowy owl, also known as the Arctic owl, is a species native to the cold regions of the Northern Hemisphere. It  is now endangered.
