If you've recently passed by 88 rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré, you must have spotted her. Between the white walls and French flags, a draped, elegant silhouette, from the village of Dardha, in the Korça district of southeastern Albania.
This reproduction of a traditional feminine costume from the second half of the 19th century was offered by the Albanian Prime Minister, Mr. Edi Rama, and his wife, Mrs. Linda Rama, to the President of the French Republic and his wife during their official visit in Tirana on May 16 and 17, 2025, on the occasion of the European Political Community Summit.
This outfit actually consists of several garments: a white shirt, a long burgundy dress, a large black vest stitched with 42 gold threads, and a bright red apron. Sophisticated details are often added, including colorful floral scarves, a collar jewel or buckles sealing the wool belt - not to forget the needle-knit socks and fine shoes.
A splendid outfit, which you can admire from every angle until the end of next week!
