Each year, in advance of the G7 summit, the science Academies of the member countries (Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom and the United States) engage in shared reflection on priority areas for science upon the invitation of the host country’s academy. They produce joint statements, together with recommendations, which are brought to the attention of governments in the run-up to the summit.

From 24 to 26 March 2019, the Académie des Sciences in France hosted the academies to prepare for the G7 summit which is held in Biarritz this August.
