In line with the commitments made by the President of the Republic during the closing session of the G7 Summit, local businesses who suffered significant losses due to the holding of the G7 will receive compensation.

Gérald Darmanin, Minister for Government Action and Public Accounts, and Agnès Pannier-Runacher, Minister of State attached to the Minister for the Economy and Finance, accordingly signed a circular on 24 September 2019 on exceptional support for commercial, crafts and services businesses that suffered significant losses due to the holding of the G7 Summit in Biarritz.

All towns affected by disruption or incidents, i.e. Biarritz, Bayonne, Urrugne, Hendaye, Bidart and Anglet, are concerned.

All commercial, crafts and services businesses situated within these towns and that suffered losses due to the G7 can apply for compensation.

Once the initial phase of collecting claims for compensation from businesses is over, a commission will meet by the end of October, chaired by the Prefect of the Pyrénées-Atlantiques Department and in the presence of representatives from the main government services in the Department and consular organizations.

This commission will examine each individual case in order to determine the prejudice suffered before allocating compensation, which will be capped at €2,000 per business and at €4,000 for businesses situated within the Biarritz “red zone”.
