France will hold the presidency of the G7 from January 1 to December 31, 2026. This presidency will be a common thread running through French diplomatic action throughout the year.

With a view to opening up to civil society and promoting initiatives throughout France and internationally, the “French Presidency of the G7” label has been created to highlight events that contribute, directly or indirectly, to energizing this presidency.

The label is awarded by the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs and the General Secretariat of the French Presidency of the G7.

The “French Presidency of the G7” label guarantees :

  • institutional recognition and promotion among the public and partners;
  • the possibility of using the official visual identity of the French Presidency of the G7 on communication materials;
  • the inclusion of the event in the official program of the French Presidency of the G7.

1. What are the commitments ?

The organizers of labeled projects or events commit to :

  • promoting their actions in connection with the French Presidency of the G7;
  • using the official communication kit provided;
  • authorizing the State to relay the actions carried out as part of the official program;
  • respect the principles of neutrality, inclusivity, and eco-design defined in the charter;
  • submit a qualitative and quantitative assessment of the actions carried out after the event.

2. What are the eligibility requirements ?

The “French G7 Presidency” label is awarded to a project or event led by committed stakeholders.

To be eligible, applications must :

  • focus on one or more concrete actions related to the priorities of the French Presidency of the G7;
  • be part of an initiative in the public interest, without any partisan, exclusively commercial, or proselytizing aims;
  • promote the values upheld by France and the G7 : democracy, the rule of law, human rights, and multilateralism;
  • comply with eco-design criteria;
  • not receive funding or partnerships from entities hostile to France or subject to sanctions.

The label's priority themes include :

  • foreign affairs and diplomacy;
  • innovation and digital technology;
  • international trade;
  • macroeconomic and financial issues;
  • climate, environment, and biodiversity;
  • domestic affairs;
  • international cooperation and development;
  • as well as other related topics (brain health, space, nuclear energy, etc.).

Projects that are part of a partnership, regional, or international approach, as well as those that promote dialogue between diplomacy and civil society, will be particularly valued.

3. Who is eligible for the label ?

The label is open to projects and events organized by all types of organizations, including :

  • associations and NGOs;
  • public administrations and operators;
  • local authorities;
  • cultural, scientific, and academic institutions;
  • research organizations and think tanks;
  • foundations;
  • companies (subject to compliance with the criteria of neutrality and general interest);
  • cultural actors and media.

4. What are the steps to obtain the label ?

  1. Submission of the application by the candidate via the dedicated form (link).
  2. Review of the application – verification of completeness and eligibility.
  3. Official decision and awarding of the label.
  4. Response to applicants and sending of the communication kit.
  5. After the event, submission of a qualitative and quantitative assessment.

5. Who awards the label ?

Applications are reviewed and the label is awarded by the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs and the General Secretariat of the French Presidency of the G7.

This body ensures that the label is awarded in a transparent, fair, and consistent manner, in line with France's diplomatic priorities.
